Core laboratory

The Core laboratory is principally involved with the pre-analytical tissue (fluid and non fluid) handling of samples collected throughout a study and prepares them for further analysis. Further analysis may be carried out at:

• The Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Froundation Trust laboratories
• Other partner Trusts
• The University of Manchester
• Other centres

The Laboratory Manager and Senior Biomedical Scientist can assist in the:

• Preparation and costing of analytical requirements for research bids
• Design and maintenance of protocols
• Liaising with Central Manchester University Hospitals' point of care coordinator where necessary to seek approval for such testing

The laboratory adheres to codes of Good Laboratory Practice and has current Clinical Pathology Accreditation.
