Study Administrative Support

Administrative support is available

A team of administrative support workers are available to support the application and administration of studies taking place at the facility. This includes:

  • Study costing
  • Ethics submission
  • Protocol development
  • Submission to the facility's Scientific Advisory Board
  • Getting an investigator's study started

IT support

We have a fully supported IT infrastructure via a Service Level Agreement with the Imaging Science (and Biomedical Engineering) Research Group within The University of Manchester. The infrastructure consists of:

  • An MS Exchange email server
  • Windows 2003 file server
  • E-Document Server
  • Two domain controllers
  • 40 Workstations utilising the Microsoft active directory system
  • Full system tape backup

All equipment is connected to a Cisco switched network with gigabit backbone to the NHS-net. There is also a web-based electronic booking system for room and participant attendance management, and a wide range of networked printing and scanning facilities. A secure Wi-Fi network is available throughout the building.

Hot desking facilities

We provide a full range of office resources for researchers to utilise between their appointments within the facility. These include:
  • Workstations
  • Access to the internet and John Rylands Library catalogue (requires UoM account)
  • Email facilities
  • Telephone and fax facilities
  • Photocopying
  • Scanning
  • Colour printing
  • Laminating
